Transnational relations

International cooperation and project management at the South Transdanubian Regional Development Agency dates back to the 1998 foundation. It has been started with the participation in the 5th Research and Development Framework Programme (FP5 – elaboration of the Regional Innovations Strategy), then followed by several INTERREG projects, that time – not being an EU member state yet – co-funded by the PHARE programme. The Agency was the first lead partner from a new member state in the INTERREG IIIC Programme, that was followed by several INTERREG IIIA and IIIC projects.

In the programming period 2007-2013 the Agency was involved in ten projects, including four being the lead partner of (CROST II, Manergy, I4Food, V-Educa), and in further six projects acted as project partner (NEEBOR, I3SME, ICER, Iron Curtain Trail, BuidlSEE, TREND). Partnership network of the Agency more or less covers the whole continent, most important partners are coming from the Alps-Adriatic region (Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia), confirming the south-western orientation of the region. Besides finalising the projects of the past period, preparation of the 2014-2020 projects has already been started.

The Agency, besides its own projects, is actively participating in operations of other institutions as expert, working group member or as management body involved in project development and implementation. Due to these wide scale activities the Agency was involved in more than 20 projects since 2007. Most important thematic areas include SME development, infrastructure, urban development, energetic and cross-border cooperation in general.

International projects unit of the Agency is made of managers having more than ten years of experience, speaking several languages and having relevant experience in all related fields of project management (technical content, finance and communication).
